What is the certification process like? And what does certification cover?

The certification process to become a Certified Software Partner ensures that our frameworks and IP are correctly implemented in your software offering, with certification maintained through annual reviews and program fees.

The certification process includes:

  1. Assessment & Training: Partners undergo an initial assessment and training to integrate WbD IP—such as Bowtie and SPICED—into their product.
  2. Implementation & Demo: Partners apply these frameworks and present a comprehensive demo, highlighting customer experience, integration design, and training content.
  3. Evaluation & Feedback: A WbD Revenue Architect assesses the implementation based on four key criteria:
    • Accurate model integration
    • Seamless user experience
    • Compliance with WbD best practices
    • Alignment with future roadmap strategies
  4. Iteration & Approval: Partners receive feedback and refine their implementation as needed until it meets certification standards.
  5. Certification & Support: Once certified, partners earn the Winning by Design Certified badge and gain access to ongoing resources and advisory support.

 

What does the certification cover?

The certification focuses on the proper implementation and representation of WbD frameworks and IP within your software. However, it does not include:

  • Product-specific certifications (e.g., QA or security audits)
  • Technical architecture evaluations
  • Regulatory compliance verification
  • Commercial strategy assessment

These areas remain the responsibility of the partner.

As a Certified Software Partner, the following benefits can be leveraged:

  • WbD’s Proven Frameworks: Enhance your software offerings by integrating Winning by Design frameworks, methodologies, models, and blueprints – including the Bowtie and SPICED – into your UX and UI.
  • Commercial Licensing Rights: Operate with a complete license to integrate Winning by Design intellectual property into your product offerings.
  • Unlimited Advisory Hours: Unlimited ability to tap into Winning by Design Revenue Architects and Trainers for guidance on how to best implement our frameworks, how to leverage content and blueprints, and guidance on your future product roadmap.

  • Referral Income: Integrate our Open Course trainings into your offerings and earn 10% referral fees on all enrollments. You will get the same 10% for any referrals to our Advisory Access Pass or Certified Partner programs.
  • Sponsorship Opportunities (additional charge): Access opportunities to sponsor our roadshow events, market briefings, or video content to reach your target audience.
How can Certified Software Partners use the Winning by Design brand and Winning by Design content in their product?

We do require brand attribution for all partner integrations as spelled out in our Creative Commons License. Beyond these foundational guidelines, we maintain flexibility in how partners implement our brand elements and we can integrate these discussions into the certification process.

As for content, anything included in the Reference Library marked with a Creative Commons License can be used in your product with attribution to Winning by Design.

How does Winning by Design help with business development for Certified Software Partners?

Our Certified Software Partner Program has a number of marketing benefits, including joint partnership announcements, a Partner of the Month feature, as well as periodic ad-hoc co-marketing activities.

Certified Software Partners will also be listed on our Certified Partner Directory to potentially elicit inbound leads searching for solutions.

What is the cost of the program?

Our Certified Software Partner Program costs $30,000 per year.
