While growth has returned as the dominant driver of company value, SaaS-Native companies are falling behind because they rely on outdated, cost-heavy GTM playbooks that “buy” growth instead of building it through efficient systems. Meanwhile, AI-Native companies—exemplified by Canva—are pulling away by embedding AI deeply across their infrastructure, enabling real-time learning, compounding feedback loops, and dramatically lower costs of growth. The next 18–36 months will widen the gap as AI evolves from assistant to operator to autonomous GTM engine, forcing boards to confront existential questions about competitiveness. CEOs must shift from being technologists, financiers, or stabilizers to becoming system architects who rebuild GTM around AI-driven, end-to-end growth systems—or risk becoming unable to catch up at all.
